As we look to further develop our leadership within Water Supply, we have a great new development opportunity for a knowledgeable and dynamic Water Production Manager to lead our Western Area Water Production teams.
What you'll do
You will hold full responsibility for the management of Water Treatment Centres in your area, leading and motivating a dedicated team to ensure the treatment of drinking water meets the highest quality standards and safeguards public health. Your role will assume full ownership and control of the area's operational expenditure (opex) budget and oversee 24/7, year-round operations. You will ensure that all sites and assets are maintained to the highest standards while driving the company's health, safety, and well-being expectations. You will play a pivotal role in shaping departmental strategy, managing team development and skills progression, and contributing directly to the company's risk management and capital prioritisation processes. Additionally, you will focus on operating sites as efficiently as possible to achieve opex savings, ensuring the right balance between cost, performance and maintaining supply into the distribution network.
You will also lead on the required responses to emergencies and incidents, collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and service providers, and maintain strong relationships with regulators such as the DWI, EA, and Natural England. You will also have a thorough understanding of risk assessment processes and health and safety procedures, and lead on the identification and documentation of risks to inform future investment, being visible and providing key input at senior companywide forums. The Production Manager will also contribute to the development of the company's business plan, manage core activities outside normal business hours, and liaise on capital schemes from design through to construction and final sign-off.
What you'll need
- Degree level qualification in Environmental Science or Leadership/Management or equivalent experience.
- Adept in managing large financial budgets.
- NEBOSH managing safely.
- IOSH Health and Safety Certificate.
- High competence with systems such as Telemetry, Dynamics, PRISM, QlikView and Microsoft softwares.
- Excellent overall understanding of Water Treatment processes, including EM&I working functions.
- High level, long-standing experience in the water industry and adept in a management/supervision position.
- Extensive knowledge of surface and borehole water treatment processes, i.e. coagulation, membranes, filtration, boreholes, ion exchange, adsorption, disinfection.
