This is a leadership role with full accountability for programme outcomes, including safety, quality, time, cost, and stakeholder engagement.
As well as an experienced deliverer, you will also be a dynamic and inspiring leader who can bring people together across different teams and functions, fostering a culture of collaboration, trust and shared purpose. You will be required to use your experience to unite diverse groups behind common goals, motivating others through clear communication, empathy and vision.
A natural coach and mentor, you will be passionate about developing talent, empowering team members to reach their full potential, and building capability across the organisation through continuous learning and support. You'll play a key role in delivering innovative, sustainable infrastructure solutions that support our long-term environmental and operational goals.
What you'll do
You will:
- take full ownership of a multi-site programme, delivering projects averaging £40m each through all phases of the project lifecycle
- lead and manage a team, with direct line responsibility for senior delivery staff and functional oversight of Commercial Managers and Planners
- coordinate internal design and engineering teams, external consultants, contractors, and a supply chain of up to 600 people
- ensure delivery of high-quality, cost-effective and sustainable solutions, balancing risk and driving continuous improvement
- negotiate and manage contracts to achieve best value across the programme
- engage with senior stakeholders across the business, providing clear leadership and maintaining alignment with strategic objectives
- champion safety, environmental performance, and compliance throughout all delivery phases
- guide and motivate multi-disciplinary teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
What you'll need
You will have:
- extensive experience delivering large-scale infrastructure programmes within the water sector or a similarly regulated environment
- an engineering background with experience in sludge technology and biogas systems, ideally within a design-and-build environment
- strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven ability to inspire and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams
- excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, with the ability to operate confidently at a senior management level
- demonstrable success in managing complex programmes to key milestones, within budget and to high standards
- strategic mindset with the ability to adapt tactically to evolving project demands and business priorities
- experience working within framework-led organisations, with a strong understanding of governance, compliance, and value engineering.
What you'll receive
- A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- A car allowance.
- Performance-related bonus.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
- Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
- Support from trained mental health first aiders.
- A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
