We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer or Trainee Engineer to join the Sewer Rehabilitation team. We deliver capital schemes across our region, working together to deliver great solutions for our customers and the environment.

We're proud to have won awards for innovation and sustainability, with a proven track record of delivering solutions.

What you'll do

In this role, you can expect to:

  • lead the delivery of planned sewer rehabilitation schemes from outline design through construction until completion, including all aspects of project liaison such as financial reporting, public relations, contractor management, and third-party negotiations
  • collaborate with colleagues across a range of internal teams and disciplines to support project delivery
  • ensure the project delivery plan is implemented in line with Wessex Water policy and CDM obligations are met
  • work with contractors and in-house technical experts to develop and deliver innovative trenchless techniques.

At the same time, we will support you in a culture of learning and personal development, giving you the best possible chance to develop your career.

What you'll need

To be a great fit for this role, we're looking for someone with a positive can-do attitude who has a great work ethic and is dedicated to doing a good job. You will be well organised, customer focused, and a great team player.

Ideally, you will be from a construction and/or water industry background.

It is essential that you have a safety-first approach.

In addition, you will:

  • have an HNC level education or higher in Civil Engineering or a water industry-related qualification (or a willingness to learn)
  • competence with Microsoft Office software packages and familiarity with GIS mapping software (or a willingness to learn)
  • have the ability to take a strategic view whilst consulting with key stakeholders to drive a collective and collaborative approach.

Due to the nature of this role, you will need to be willing to work across our region in the management of projects and schemes, therefore, you will need to hold a valid UK driving licence.

We would be open to hiring a Trainee Project Engineer for this role, provided you have the right attitude and understanding of the basic requirements.

What you'll receive

  • A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to buy up to 10 days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary.
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • An interactive health and wellbeing platform.
  • Support from mental health first aiders.
