As a Purchasing Estimator, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and produce quotes for a diverse range of projects and work with suppliers to develop collaborative supply of goods and services.

What you'll do

Day to day, the role will involve:

  • Generate quotes against provided scope
  • Collaborate with suppliers to provide accurate, current prices used in quotes
  • Create project plans that deliver the required scope
  • Procure to site materials against projected scope and plans in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with Site Manager, Engineers, Black Hats and customers on pricing, materials selection and delivery sequencing
  • Work with customers on scope clarification/RFI's
  • Maintain and expand existing pricing dataset
  • Evaluate supplier submissions for accuracy against requested info

What you'll need

You will have proven experience working as an Estimator and procurement of civils and MEICA construction materials in a similar role in a construction environment with strong analytical skills and attention to detail, including the ability to build and maintain relationships with business stakeholders and suppliers. 

In addition, you will:

  • Experience of using engineering knowledge to understand requirements and deliverables to achieve provided scope
  • Have an understanding of materials costs, task durations and plant required to deliver objectives.
  • Logical thinker, able to sequence projects in a structured way.
  • Problem solving skills, able to identify and propose solutions to scope gaps and engineering challenges
  • Self-starter able to pick up tasks, prioritise and manage a varied workload to tight deadlines
  • Able to work with loosely defined scope and bring definition and accuracy to the process
  • Strong Excel and MS Project skills
  • VBA and automation highly desirable.
