We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our fantastic team. This role is key to supporting the commercial function on our projects, working closely with the Quantity Surveying team. You will assist in the delivery of duties while developing your skills and experience in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Once home to every UK-build Concorde, the Brabazon Hangars are being repurposed into a brand-new venue for Bristol, celebrating the city's history and investing in its future for generations to come.
What you'll do
1) Pre-Construction Phase:
- preparation of subcontract tender enquiry documentation
- identifying and engaging with suitable Supply Chain Partners
- preparing subcontract /supplier tender lists
- preparing of ‘Scope of Work' in conjunction with the delivery team
- attending pre-tender and mid-bid interviews to ensure a high level of communication to the supply chain around the project
- understanding and contributing to the preliminaries assessment for the project
- understanding the needs of a project risk register
- working with the design managers to understand the design for value engineering opportunities
- reviewing submitted package bids and carry out detailed tender analysis including initial review of costs, scope gaps, assumptions, interfaces, clarifications and exclusions
- preparing draft tender reports for agreement
- assisting in the preparation of subcontract documentation for execution.
2) Construction Phase:
- understanding and supporting the commercial process and procedures
- assisting in the preparation of regular, accurate, commercial reports and forecasts for the packages
- assisting in managing the commercial function with subcontractors and suppliers
- reviewing and commenting on valuation of variations, including provisional and PC sums
- agreeing in conjunction with the site team on progress and interim account payments
- maintaining up-to-date and accurate subcontract final account projections
- contributing to the preparation of the monthly commercial report.
3) General Commercial Management Requirements:
- supporting and playing an active role in promoting the safety culture across the project
actively progress your education and move towards a Professional Qualification.
What you'll need
- Working towards a recognised Quantity Surveying qualification.
- Previous working experience in commercial management.
- Preferred experience of working with a main contractor.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Have good IT skills, particularly in Excel.
- Reasonable communication and commercial skills.
