The position offers an opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team working with a variety of equipment, assets and processes. You will have the opportunity to embrace curiosity and develop new skills outside of your normal day-to-day activities.

What you'll do

Every day is different. You will be working in all weather conditions, carrying out a range of tasks, to ensure the essential functions of our bioresources treatment centres.

As a Bioresources Team Leader, you will assist the Operations Manager with supervising, supporting, training and mentoring staff at all levels, as well as assisting Operators in their routine maintenance tasks.

You will ensure KPIs & SLAs are achieved and coordinate daily operational activities.

The main responsibilities of the role will include:

  • supporting operational staff on site to maintain and improve process performance
  • having a safety first mindset, ensuring your own personal safety as well as colleagues, visitors and the public
  • actively optimising sludge quality, energy and chemical use
  • liaising with and managing contractor activity on site, including reviewing RAMS
  • contributing to and implementing necessary change to meet business goals
  • assisting with operational maintenance activities on site on a daily basis
  • raising process risk assessments, EM&I jobs and prioritising appropriately.

What you'll need

We are looking for people who communicate effectively, demonstrate a positive outlook and behaviours, and can work under their own initiative, both unsupervised and within a team environment.

We are looking for problem solvers, and people who are keen to make a positive impact by looking for ways to help us work more efficiently.

Ideally, you will be working towards an NVQ level 3 STW (all wastewater units) or an equivalent electrical/mechanical qualification.

You will need to have a flexible approach, with the ability to react quickly and efficiently to changes on any given day or over the course of the job role. If this sounds like you, then we'd love to hear from you!

In addition, you will have:

  • knowledge of the treatment process with a passion for delivering the highest performance and quality
  • experience operating and optimising treatment processes
  • mechanical or electrical experience in fault-finding and rectifying issues
  • experience in producing written reports and procedures
  • good knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office packages, especially Excel and Word
  • a full clean UK driving licence
  • be able to participate in a full standby rota.

What you'll receive

  • A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary, subject to conditions.
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • An interactive health and wellbeing platform.
