We have an excellent opportunity for a MEP Building Services Engineer to provide professional expertise in the design, development and completion of our flagship 20,000-seat indoor arena project and later support the wider Brabazon development, including building services systems and infrastructure.

Once home to every UK-built Concorde, the Brabazon Hangars are being repurposed into a brand-new venue for Bristol and set to be the South West's top destination for music, comedy, sports, and entertainment.

Reporting directly to the MEP Lead, you will assist with the management and coordination of MEP design for this £90m package, contributing to the formulation of design programmes, reviewing processes, and providing recommendations as applicable to ensure the achievement of quality within cost objectives.

You'll play a key part in upholding and embedding YTL Construction UK's ethos of “Building the Right Thing”, helping to shape systems, behaviours, and outcomes that reflect our commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation.

What you'll do

You will:

  • assist in managing the evolving design process for all aspects of the Arena MEP services designs to ensure that they are coordinated and completed at the point of tendering
  • be part of a team that will tender and procure the building services installation for the YTL Arena, including input to the procurement route and development of procedures to manage the various stages and processes
  • ensure that the process is carried out efficiently, regularly reviewed, and reported on to maintain value through the pre-construction phase.

You will also be fully involved in ‘pre-construction and design', procurement, construction, and project close-out, of which your core role and responsibilities will include:

  • assisting with reviewing the technical and MEP designs, providing expert technical input on technical drafting issues and compliance requirements
  • maintaining current knowledge and keeping abreast of current and emerging developments, trends, and applicable current legislative requirements
  • assisting the Commercial Manager with the preparation of enquiries and procurement for all services-related subcontract packages
  • reviewing and understanding ‘project brief and requirements' relating to MEP and ensuring that the design and documents reflect these requirements
  • working alongside the Design Manager, Programmer and BIM Manager to plan, support the coordination, drawing production, design programme and technical submissions
  • identifying with the MEP Commercial Manager the likely supply chain for each package
  • managing the MEP subcontract packages with respect to quality, progress and safety in relevant disciplines and compiling regular reports
  • providing input into the development and execution of the commissioning plan, process and programme.

What you'll need

You will have substantial experience in MEP building services, with a proven track record of successful delivery on major projects, with build values in excess of £100m and services values in excess of £30m.

Having worked with a Tier 1 main contractor or major subcontractor, you'll also have a strong technical knowledge of services design, installation, and commissioning.

You will also have the following knowledge and skills:

  • existing relationships with the local MEP supply chain
  • leading and managing technical delivery teams
  • experience with Viewpoint, SharePoint, Teams, Revizto, and BIM (Revit)
  • knowledge of health and safety
  • familiarity with forms of contract
  • effective communication skills
  • project management skills
  • presentation skills
  • problem-solving skills
  • CSCS card.
