About the Apprenticeship
YTL Construction are transforming the historic Filton Airfield which is one of the biggest brownfield developments in the UK, which is also the future home of the new YTL Arena scheme which transforms the Brabazon Hanger into a premier event venue catering for up to 19,000 people.
We are looking for individuals who want to be part of our dynamic team and share the vision of delivering this iconic development. You will be joining us at YTL Construction who are responsible for the delivery of the overall Brabazon Estate which offers future opportunities for the next 15/20 years.
What you'll do
You will:
- assist in collating the MEP scope of services for tendering
- review and ensure alignment of scope, cost and programme with project requirements
- attend pre and post-tender interviews with the supply chain
- coordinate changes to scope, price and programme through a change control process
- track deliverables and ensure timely submission per project programme
- collaborate with Design and Building Services Managers to integrate design, drawing production and technical submissions into the programme
- contribute to drawing and design development with the supply chain
- assist with value engineering and work with the supply chain to integrate viable solutions
- monitor design and installation progress, validating the accuracy of progress reports
- identify value engineering opportunities to optimise programme, commercial viability and quality
- ensure building physics design meets regulatory requirements and project standards
- support preparation of MEP-related information for building regulations approval
- assist with project monitoring, reporting and performance benchmarking
- maintain progress records and manage incoming utilities.

This apprentice vacancy will include a suitability questionnaire which our teams will shortlist from along with an assessment centre where you will be assessed with other candidates with an activity and speed interview.

Where you'll work
This role is based at Filton Airfield Bristol, where you will be part of an energetic and busy team operating on a regular shift pattern during the working week.
What you'll need
- A keen interest in Mechanical and electrical engineering.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Interest in working with a wide range of specialist contractors or varying skill sets and backgrounds.
- An interest in health and safety legislation.
- The ability to research and develop your knowledge of applicable regulations and standards.
You will also need GCSEs at grade A-C/4+ in English and maths.
You will have two A-level subjects at Grade C or above, including Mathematics or a diploma in Aeronautical Engineering, Applied Science, Construction and the Built Environment, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering, Land-based Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Operations and Maintenance Engineering
If you have a diploma, you must have achieved a merit in one of the following units: Further Engineering Mathematics or Further Mathematics for Construction.

Duration
- Five years plus end point assessment.
Qualifications
- Building Services Design Engineer Apprenticeship Level 6.
- BEng(Hons) Building Services Engineering degree.
- Accredited by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).
Training provision
- Training will be delivered by University of West of England – Bristol.
- Day release.
- In-person lectures.
