Do you enjoy working outdoors and meeting customers? Are you super organised with a keen eye for detail? Do you have a flair for writing across a range of channels and audiences? If so, we have a great opportunity for you as a Communications and Events Coordinator in our Communications team.
This role will see you coordinating our attendance at various community events, as well as organising some of our own to engage with our customers about our core services and allow them to ask questions.
You'll also be working with your team members in Corporate Affairs to help with content production across internal and external channels and oversee all content needed for events marketing and collateral.
What you'll do
You will be:
- coordinating and facilitating PR events, activities and workflows
- developing a programme of internal and external events, including but not limited to water refill events, education events and larger customer events
- managing events admin including collating and reporting on feedback and data, processing invoices and writing briefing notes
- working with various customer and stakeholder teams across the business to agree on messaging, activities and desired outcomes from attending customer events
- working with external event partners to book and negotiate attendance and requirements
- supporting the wider communications team with content writing for both internal and external audiences
- proofreading and advising business stakeholders on content across digital platforms, corporate documents and customer literature
- working with the design team to produce new events collateral and resources
- managing stock levels of event resources and placing new orders.
What you'll need
Ideally, you will have the following skills:
- excellent multi-tasking, organisational and administrative skills
- efficient in Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- excellent communication skills, including the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and negotiate
- customer service skills and comfortable in a public-facing role
- the ability to remain calm under pressure without losing a customer-service focus
- a willing to problem solve and respond to customer needs
- a methodical approach to tasks and the ability to prioritise your workload to ensure you deliver excellent service to our customers and partners
- focus with an eye for detail
- a positive ‘can do' attitude and self-motivation with a proactive approach to work
- strong writing, spelling and grammar.
Your experience will ideally include:
- working in event management, community engagement or public relations
- event planning or event coordination, including working on multiple events at once
- building relationships and dealing with external partners and community organisations
- confidently speaking to the public face-to-face
- content writing and providing clear briefs to designers and creatives.
Although this is an office-based role, there will be a requirement for the successful candidate to drive to event venues and remote sites across the Wessex Water region. Therefore, it is essential that you have a valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
Please note the role does require some weekend and out-of-hours work, which can be taken back as time in lieu. It also involves lifting and transporting event equipment, being on your feet for extended periods and walking on outdoor terrain.
