Are you highly organised with excellent attention to detail? Are you passionate about protecting the environment through working with both internal and external stakeholders as well as community groups? If so, we have a great opportunity for you to join our team as an Environmental Support Technician!
We are open to candidates looking for full-time employment or a part-time/job share role.
What you'll do
As the Environmental Support Technician, you will assist the Water Recycling team on a day-to-day basis.
This will include the analysis of pollution reporting data and the root cause analysis process, updating policy and procedural documents, and ensuring training material and delivery for Environmental protection is up to date and accurate.
In addition to this, within the role you will provide support to the Wessex Water Guardians Community Project.
This will allow you to get involved with:
- working with multiple Wildlife and Rivers Trusts who recruit volunteers to monitor local waterways and report potential pollutions to Wessex Water
- arranging and updating budgets, booklets, PPE orders, articles, training, talks and visits
- following up Water Guardian queries, as well as keeping a record to ensure responses and feedback are followed up
- holding catch-up meetings every two months with each trust and biannual meetings with all trusts
- liaising with internal teams to facilitate any Water Guardian business and potential opportunities, especially with PR and Community Engagement.
What you'll need
To be successful within the role, you will be excellent at managing your workload to meet deadlines as well as being an effective communicator across all levels within the business and external parties.
In addition to this, you will:
- be IT proficient, including experience with Microsoft packages
- be passionate about protecting the environment and the communities we serve
- have accuracy and attention to detail
- have good time management skills
- have knowledge of the water industry (would be an advantage but not essential)
- have some experience with a volunteer organisation (would be an advantage but not essential).
