What you'll do
Our Engineering and Construction teams are responsible for the delivery of water treatment, wastewater and network projects across our region. This is an exciting opportunity to further your career working as part of our Design teams which deliver design and construction solutions that achieve the best balance of environmental improvement, residual risk and investment requirements.
As a Graduate Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- technical engineering assessments of sites and options
- hydraulic engineering calculations and the optioneering of solutions
- collecting site information from our databases, and analysing this information to inform basis of design
- undertaking site surveys and investigation works across our region
- liaising with Operations staff, Process Scientists and Engineering and Construction Delivery teams (civil, mechanical and electrical commissioning and project management)
- the general management of contacts to ensure the design team delivers in line with the agreed financial approvals and programme
- coordinating and organising ongoing surveys to provide client data to establish project scope
- representing the client and supporting the Project Manager in dealing with various stakeholder interfaces
- attending workshops and regular design meetings to review design proposals and consider issues such as buildability, commissioning and stakeholder needs
- managing drawing and document administration to ensure consultants and contractors meet project and regulatory requirements.
What you'll need
You will be professionally qualified within a relevant institution and have a 2:1 or higher degree qualification in a relevant engineering or environment discipline.
Ideally, you will also need:
- a strong interest in hydraulics, and a good understanding of the fundamental underlying principles of this subject
- good communication skills
- a good working knowledge of Excel
- a desire to learn and improve whilst working within an experienced team
- a full UK driving license as you will be required to drive.
