In this role, you will work as part of a team organising Leakage Inspectors' workloads for proactive and reactive leak detection. You will manage an efficient 24/7 leakage delivery workstream to meet our regulatory target.
There are five individual vacancies, each covering a different sub-division (Trowbridge, Poole, Salisbury, Dorchester & Yeovil). There is a requirement to travel around the sub-division area making site visits to your team.
What you'll do
As a Leakage Supervisor, you will report into the Area Water Network Manager, and you will be required to:
- deliver the team's sub-division leakage target
- manage quality assurance and conduct regular health and safety audits
- drive performance and efficiency improvements across the team
- manage the team's training and development
- perform desktop studies to ensure best practices are being adhered to
- drive the correct behaviours within the team
- be responsible for the team's recruitment
- take ownership of HR responsibilities for the team
- develop a close relationship with the rest of the supply business, including Distribution, Customer, Scheduling, and Repair and Maintenance teams
- suggest ways to improve the supply network working under a financial budget restriction
- manage leakage contractors and authorise invoices
- manage the team's budget expenditure.
As part of the role, we are happy to provide training for the following qualifications:
- Supervisors Street Works
- Hygiene Card
- IOSH Managing Safely
As this role functions 24/7, there will be a requirement for standby.
What you'll need
You will be a driven, hardworking and self-motivated person with the desire to learn new skills.
You will also need:
- people management experience, including appropriate performance management skills, and the ability to support direct reports and foster a culture of innovation and autonomous operation
- proven data analysis and IT skills
- experience in water industry operations, preferably leakage monitoring and leakage detection
- excellent time management and problem-solving skills
- good customer service skills
- excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- proven knowledge of the detail behind water supply networks from source to tap, including pipeline hydraulics, service reservoirs, leakage operations, R&M and pressure control
- a clear understanding of regulatory framework and targets
- a good understanding of wastewater notices and legal processes
- ILM Level 3 (desirable)
- a full UK driving licence.
