We have an exciting new opportunity for a MEP Project Manager to join YTL Construction UK and work on one of the largest and most exciting private regeneration projects in the UK, with multiple projects being coordinated simultaneously.
We are currently transforming the historic former Filton Airfield – the birthplace of Concorde and supersonic travel – into a thriving new neighbourhood for Bristol, known as Brabazon.
What you'll do
The MEP Project Manager will be responsible for the complete oversight, leadership and successful delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEP) services across the lifecycle of the project.
You will play a pivotal role throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility and design through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover to the building operator.
Reporting into the Senior MEP Manager, you will be required to combine strategic foresight, technical depth and understanding of MEP engineering services and project leadership to manage risks, drive collaboration and achieve seamless MEP delivery across diverse project environments.
Your core roles and responsibilities will include:
- assisting the entire end-to-end MEP design process from RIBA Stage 0 (Strategic Definition) to Stage 3 (Spatial Coordination)
- assisting and leading the MEP design process from RIBA Stage 4 onwards, to handover
- reviewing MEP consultant designs to ensure technical accuracy, compliance with UK Building Regulations, CIBSE Standards, BSRIA guidelines, and integration with architectural & structural frameworks
- overseeing spatial coordination using BIM tools, identifying and resolving clashes through design workshops and technical reviews
- driving value engineering exercises to seek performance optimisation and lifecycle efficiency without compromising compliance or quality
- collaborating with sustainability consultants to integrate low-carbon and energy-efficient systems aligned with BREEAM or other environmental targets
- assisting in procurement strategies for MEP packages that align with project scope, complexity, and market conditions
- assisting the tender review, analysis, and selection process for MEP contractors, suppliers, and vendors
- reviewing, analysing, and assisting with negotiating subcontractor and supplier packages in collaboration with the commercial
- managing procurement schedules to ensure the timely placement of orders for long-lead items and critical systems
- monitoring subcontractor performance against commercial, program, and technical benchmarks to ensure contract compliance and mitigate risks
- planning and overseeing all MEP installation activities during the construction phase, ensuring alignment with the overall project schedule
- coordinating on-site activities with main contractors, subcontractors, and specialist trades to ensure efficient sequencing and logistics
- defining and leading the commissioning strategy in collaboration with the commissioning manager and design teams
- overseeing functional testing, integrated systems testing (IST), and performance validation of MEP systems
- coordinating third-party witnessing and independent validation as required
- ensuring completion and accuracy of O&M manuals, asset registers, training programs, and statutory certification
- leading the handover process to ensure a seamless transition to facilities management or end-user teams
- ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements
- being the principal point of contact for all MEP matters on the schemes you are responsible for, fostering strong and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- managing MEP Supervisors and or Engineers on site
What you'll need
The successful individual will have previous experience in project management with a strong working knowledge of MEP systems design and installation.
You will have a proven track record of successfully delivering MEP projects, ensuring all MEP systems are designed, integrated, procured, and delivered in accordance with technical standards, UK statutory regulations, client requirements, and programme milestones.
In addition to relevant working experience, you will have either an HNC, HND, or degree in an equivalent engineering discipline.
As a MEP project management professional, you will also have the following skills and experience:
- experience delivering multi-million-pound MEP packages
- confident and regular user of BIM/Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks
- able to read and interpret technical drawing packs, specifications, and commissioning schedules
- familiarity with project planning and reporting tools
- CSCS (mandatory).
