Sustainability is a critical theme for companies in the YTL UK Group. This role is pivotal to that aim, focusing especially on greenhouse gas emissions.
This job is all about looking forward and helping the group be fit for the future.
What you'll do
As the Net Zero Analyst, you will be based at our Bath office and report to the Group Sustainability Director.
A lot of the work is focused on greenhouse gas emissions data of specific activities and at the company level. Currently, most of this is focused on Wessex Water.
Water specifically, but it will become more important for other YTL UK companies. The emissions data includes the numbers being reported in the current year and forecasts in relation to our net zero targets.
You will also have the ability to work with individuals from different teams across the business.
Specific areas of work will include:
- gathering and managing data from multiple providers around the Group
- ensuring data is auditable and timely
- preparing annual greenhouse gas emissions calculations and disclosures (eg, regulatory reporting, corporate reports, Carbon Disclosure Project)
- working with others to continually improve our use of available data
- responding to ad hoc requests for emissions data and other information
- running our interactions with individuals in other teams who are working with us on potential and actual projects
- monitoring progress against activity targets and reporting to directors
- keeping track of carbon reductions being delivered
- liaising with technical carbon leads in other companies (especially on reporting)
- helping to update our public net zero routemap and develop carbon reporting more widely
- looking at the effect of implementing potential carbon reduction options
- keeping up to date with low-carbon innovations.
While the Net Zero Analyst has no direct reports, it would require you to work with teams and individuals across the business that are directly involved in our sustainability work.
There are opportunities for wider communication internally and to promote sustainability with the wider YTL UK Group through cooperation with other business units.
What you'll need
We are looking for someone who has good experience with data management, sometimes complex datasets and building data models.
Strong IT skills and competence using Excel especially will be critical, as well as an eye for detail and an ability to work to standards and specifications.
A person who has worked in an accounting role and wants to broaden their horizons could be ideal.
You will need to be able to work with a wide range of people in different departments, including Directors, managers and support staff.
You should also enjoy working in a multi-functional team environment where some tasks may be shared.
The role suits an organised self-starter with an inquiring mind and a readiness to look for better ways of working. While previous experience with carbon reporting is beneficial, it is not essential.
Most importantly, you will have a desire to help achieve our net-zero ambitions, within the context of major global and national challenges for the environment and society.
What you'll receive
- A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary, subject to conditions.
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
- An interactive health and wellbeing platform.
- Support from mental health first aiders.
- A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone to work for us.
