In this role you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our clean water network, booster stations, and service reservoirs in the South division Water Network Area. 
 

What you'll do

An essential element of the role is to implement strategies and actions to overcome the significant challenges associated with achieving Wessex Waters Leakage, Supply Interruption and Water Quality performance commitments, being mindful of budget efficiencies and productivity opportunities whilst ensuring employee health, safety and wellbeing is not compromised.

You will also:

  • Implement operational strategies to meet the strategic PC's the company has determined will maintain Wessex Water's position as the top performing water company.
  • Deliver and maintain an efficient 24/7 network operation whilst managing risk to process and public health.
  • Deliver and maintain field operations to reduce the amount of time that our customers are without water as a result of planned or reactive activities.
  • Deliver and maintain regional operational emergency supply response capability to the required statutory standard.
  • Participate in out-of-hours standby.

You will also have Direct reports of one to two Network Supervisors and one Leakage Supervisor, as well as twenty to thirty Indirect reports (inspectors).

What you'll need

  • Appropriate level of operational experience and leadership to HNC level or equivalent
  • Strong experience in water industry operations.
  • Experience in managing operational teams and managing budgets.
  • Strong and proven knowledge of the detail behind water supply networks from source to tap including pipeline hydraulics, service reservoirs, leakage operations, R&M and pressure control.
  • Strong and proven track record of managing water supply operational emergencies at operational level.
  • Associated knowledge of water treatment sites and processes, water science & quality and resource strategy including grid operations.
  • Appropriate negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Appropriate communication and presentation skills.
  • To be supportive of direct reports and foster a culture of innovation and autonomous operation.
  • Clear understanding of regulatory framework and targets.
  • Strong knowledge of the companies H&S management procedures and ability to instil a strong health, safety and wellbeing culture.
