Due to the increasing workload within YTL Construction (Infrastructure), we have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to work as part of the Treatment team.

As a Project Engineer, you will be working within the Project Management team based in either the South Area or the North area with travel throughout the Wessex Water region, which covers the area of Bristol, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Bridgwater, and everything in between. 

What you'll do

Within the role you will report to the Project Manager, where you will be responsible for the implementation of Engineering Schemes, ensuring all relevant scheme information is collated so that the construction, Electrical and Mechanical teams can carry out works to programme. 

This is a challenging role that demands effective communication with all internal and external clients, including arranging and attending meetings as required.

Your main responsibilities include:  

  • overseeing all phases of engineering schemes according to NEC3 contract
  • providing technical assistance within the design phase, suggesting recommendations when required
  • conducting design reviews and analysing data to develop and implement strategies
  • managing work packages, ensuring adherence to client specifications, programme and budget
  • liaising with various stakeholders including clients, contractors, and internal departments
  • attending meetings on various sites and report on project milestones
  • working throughout the project to ensure health and safety documentation is in place
  • ensuring adherence to safety regulations and environmental compliance
  • complete governance documentation and present when required to key stakeholders in the business.

What you'll need

To be successful in this role, you will have a safety-first approach, ensuring the safety of yourself, the team and the public is at the forefront of everything you do. 

You will be an excellent communicator and be able to communicate complex topics to a range of people with varying knowledge and understanding.

In addition, we are ideally looking for:

  • relevant engineering degree/equivalent certificate or time served experience
  • experience in the water utility or similar construction industry is advantageous
  • demonstrable experience in working independently and analysing large volumes of information (drawings, data, specifications)
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • project risk management, including safety, environmental, process, programme and budget
  • experience working with Construction Design Management Regulations (CDM)
  • experience in building good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • business/commercial awareness
  • computer literate with good knowledge of MS Office
  • IOSH/NEBOSH desirable.

Due to the nature of the role, a valid driving licence is essential. Use of your own vehicle is required and business mileage will be reimbursed.
