We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to take on a key role in the delivery of the Design and Build AMP8 Treatment Programme.

You'll work with a wide range of Capital Delivery Partners within a friendly and inclusive team, while managing the full project lifecycle from design through to construction, commissioning and handover.

What you will do

The role of Project Manager comes with a great deal of variety. Each day is different and will provide exciting new challenges.

You will:

  • engage with a wide range of stakeholders, liaising with design, delivery, operational and commissioning teams
  • work directly with our Programme Managers, Capital Delivery Partners (identifying and mitigating risks), and third-party stakeholders (regarding land use, environmental and planning constraints, power supply and continued operational use)
  • work with our Programme Managers and Commercial Team to oversee the delivery of engineering schemes in accordance with the NEC4 contract
  • manage work packages, in line with the clients' specifications, programme and budget, along with reporting on project milestones and progress
  • work closely with the Technical Managers and the Design Team to provide technical assurance and guidance on the projects on a programme scale
  • develop operational and carbon costing schemes, forecast and report on project budgets and coordinate the timely production of estimates, along with the provision of internal governance papers
  • facilitate and lead programme-wide working groups focusing on the improvement of design and delivery.

You'll be working with the project team based in the south and south west area of the Wessex Water region, which includes Bristol, Bath, Dorchester, and Poole.

The project team consists of Lead Design Engineers, Project Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Planners and Programme Managers.

The Capital Delivery Partners will primarily be based in Bristol and Bath for up to two years, with projects subsequently based on-site in the south (a one-hour commute from Poole or Dorchester).

What you'll need

  • Experience working with Construction Design Management Regulations (CDM).
  • Health and safety training, including Safe Systems of Work, bespoke CDM training, CITB 5 Day, and IOSH or NEBOSH.
  • Experience in project risk management, including safety, environmental, process, programme and budgeting.
  • APM Associate member or above, or PRINCE2 Practitioner.
  • A safety-first approach, ensuring the safety of yourself, the team and the public is at the forefront of everything you do.
  • A self-motivated individual who is an excellent communicator and enjoys working in a team.
  • The ability to drive improvements and drive progress on a project and programme level.
  • Be able to maintain good working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Have a relevant engineering degree/certificate or time served experience.
  • Be computer literate with good knowledge of MS Office and Excel.

Experience in Design and Build projects in the water or construction sector will be advantageous.

There will be an element of travel so a valid full driving license is necessary.

Use of your own vehicle is required, and business mileage will be reimbursed.

What you'll receive

  • Combined pension contributions up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • Performance related bonus.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary, subject to conditions.
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • An interactive health and wellbeing platform.

  • A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone to work for us.
