Due to our continued growth delivering the exciting Brabazon Project at old the Filton Airfield development we are looking to recruit a highly motivated, skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team within the major projects part of the business, initially to be part of the purpose-built 1,514-bed student accommodation project team.
The successful candidate will be crucial in managing project costs, ensuring that financial resources are allocated efficiently throughout the project lifecycle.

What you'll do
You will:
- monitor project expenditures and implement cost control measures to ensure budgets are adhered to
- administer change management and change controls on projects
- collaborate with the Projects team, Designers, Contractors and Client to ensure accurate pricing and timely completion of projects
- maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to projects
- provide regular reports on the financial status of projects to stakeholders and senior management
- procurement of supply chain including contract negotiations
- management of all commercial aspects of subcontractor accounts including negotiation of variations, processing payment applications, contract administration and agreement of final account
- prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, plant and overheads
- most of all, you are expected to understand and be committed to, the company mission, values, goals and department ethos.
What you'll need
You will have:
- a degree in quantity surveying or a similar construction-related qualification
- proven experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry
- main contractor background is preferable
- experience working on commercial projects is preferable but not essential
- MRICS or MCIOB is preferable but not essential and we can offer support in the Chartership routes should the successful candidate have a desire to pursue.
- detailed knowledge of building costs and competent at carrying out measurement/checks from drawings and specifications
- strong knowledge of cost control techniques and methodologies
- excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- proficient in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite
- strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders
- ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast paced environment
- a proactive approach to problem solving and decision making
- have good people skills, including leadership skills and the ability to foster professional relations with others
- a sound knowledge of health and safety related to the role.
As this position will require travel between YTL offices and construction sites, a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle will be required.
