If you have an analytical mind, a talent for writing clear reports and procedures and enjoy working collaboratively, we can offer you a challenging and varied role that supports a vital service to our community.
You'll be working at sites often located in areas of outstanding natural beauty across the Wessex Water region, from Bristol to Salisbury, Bournemouth to Bridgwater, and everywhere in between.
What you'll do
As part of the Water Supply team, you'll report to the Head of Water Production and work across our regional network of assets, from catchment to tap, supporting the delivery of safe, clean drinking water.
This role combines on-site and office-based work, helping to ensure our operations meet industry best practices and regulatory expectations.
Our supply system includes spring and borehole sources, stream support boreholes, treatment centres, and an extensive distribution network.
You'll work closely with area teams to promote consistent standards and best practices across the region.
Key responsibilities include:
- producing method statements for planned activities
- writing reports and procedures
- developing schematics and generic risk assessments
- supporting compliance and operational excellence
- actively contributing to the implementation and development of new processes.
As the water industry operates 24/7, this role includes some out-of-hours standby and weekend working.
What you'll need
Health and safety is central to everything we do, so it's essential that you consistently promote and follow policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
You'll need excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate confidently and clearly.
You should be comfortable explaining technical information in simple terms, both verbally and in writing.
In addition, you will have:
- experience or an understanding of water treatment processes (desirable but not essential)
- knowledge or experience of a technical role within the utility sector
- the ability to write concise reports and identify appropriate, effective, and achievable corrective and preventive actions
- proficiency in Microsoft Office, including editing and publishing content on SharePoint
- the ability to carry out basic root cause analysis
- a flexible approach to work.
We're looking for people who can add value to the team, work collaboratively and operate independently when needed.
What you'll receive
- A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
- Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
- Support from trained mental health first aiders.
- A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
