An exciting opportunity has become available for a Technical Manager, with extensive water sector experience, to join YTL Construction (Infrastructure).

You will be a leader in the field of wastewater process engineering and work within a dedicated multi-discipline design team to predominantly help deliver multi-million pound engineering projects.

What you'll do

You will be responsible for the technical governance across all aspects of project development, from feasibility through to detailed design. This role also extends across construction and through to commissioning completion.

You will provide impartial expert guidance and advice throughout the life cycle of a project, working with both internal design staff and external design consultants.

You will:

  • provide expert process treatment and technical guidance to support the project delivery teams in developing appropriate and cost-effective solutions to meet specific project requirements in all aspects of wastewater and sludge treatment
  • review, audit and approve technical reports, appraisals, designs, and drawings (both internal and external) to ensure that all comply with YTL health & safety, technical, legal and environmental standards
  • attend project design review meetings to challenge, where required, design solutions and any assumptions made in their development to highlight any risk concerns or areas of non-compliance with YTL design and industry standards
  • update, challenge and/or develop YTL design standards, specifications, standard products, and standard drawings to ensure that they represent sound engineering practice and are fit for purpose
  • represent YTL on national specialist technical groups and working parties
  • attend technical approval boards, comprising representatives of project stakeholders, to approve all technical aspects of projects
  • undertake investigations and appraisals of new technology to assess their suitability for implementation and that they provide the best value engineering solutions whilst considering risk and value, whole life costs and carbon emissions
  • provide training, mentoring, support, and guidance to all engineering and technical staff.

What you'll need

To succeed in this adaptive and rewarding role, you will ideally have been working in a senior wastewater engineering role where you have a proven track record of providing quality outputs.

It is expected that you can confidently demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills, along with good verbal and written communication.

You will have:

  • a degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline
  • ideally a master's degree (or higher) in a wastewater related area
  • chartered professional status of an appropriate institution
  • relevant experience, which ideally would include a mix of process design, commissioning and/or operational science experience.

This is a hybrid role, based at our Head Office in Bath, and due to the nature of the work undertaken, will require a minimum of three days per week attendance on site and / or office.

What you'll receive

  • Combined pension contributions up to 20%.

  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
