You will have the opportunity to develop and learn new skills on the job as a Trainee Planner!
What you'll do
As a Trainee Planner, you will learn how key activities are sequenced throughout the project lifecycle and gain an understanding of how programme logic drives the critical path to project completion.
You will be travelling across the Wessex Water region, which covers Bristol, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Bridgwater and everything in between, initially shadowing an experienced Planner for a period of time while completing the Trainee Planner Programme.
Reporting to the Networks Planning Manager, you will join a growing Planning team helping to deliver a variety of water supply, sewerage networks projects, working closely with Project Managers, Designers and support teams. This role allows you to see projects through from concept to completion, giving you a broad understanding of project delivery and programme management.
As you progress, you will take on responsibility for planning projects, building up to a full programme portfolio within one of our networks workstreams. You will need to liaise with the Project Management team, Designers and Contractors and maintain accurate programmes using a variety of software systems, including Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, BIM 360 and Power BI.
You will also have the opportunity to work with construction teams developing construction programmes.
What you'll need
This role will give you plenty of development and on-the-job training; therefore, it is essential that you are confident, driven, and self-motivated with a can-do attitude.
You'll be educated to degree level or post A-Level qualifications within a relevant discipline and have an interest in construction, water supply, wastewater treatment and mechanical and electrical projects.
Experience of using Microsoft Project software would be an advantage, but is not essential.
Due to the varied locations of our work, you will be required to hold a valid driving licence and have access to your own vehicle; expenses will be reimbursed.
What you'll receive
- A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
