This role will see you travelling across the picturesque Wessex Water region with a mixture of office and site work. A company vehicle and all tools needed to carry out the role will be provided.
What you'll do
Every day, Wessex Water schedules and carries out the regulatory sampling programme for the water and sewerage services we provide to 2.9 million people in the South West of England. In addition, we provide sampling and analytical services to a range of customers, including businesses, local authorities, drinking water providers and environmental consultants.
You will be working in a support role within our Sampling and Couriering teams. Your duties will include booking appointments and taking water quality samples, including taking scientific field tests such as chlorine measurements mainly from customer properties and delivering your and your colleagues' samples to the laboratory. You will also be the cover, as needed, for leave for our daily set courier routes. As this is a support role, you would be supporting with site sampling and various technical administration tasks in the office. The role is very variable and self-managed, with full support given.
Your regular working days will be Monday to Friday, including bank holidays. The standard working hours are between 9.30am and 6pm, which will be adapted as needed when covering a set courier route.
What you'll need
You will have a positive and flexible approach to supporting team colleagues and enjoy the varied and dynamic nature of the role. You'll be naturally customer-focused and confident in professionally dealing with customers over the phone and in person. You will be organised, have good attention to detail, and be comfortable learning a range of water sampling procedures.
Ideally, you will possess A levels in English, Maths and Science (or equivalent) as a minimum. You would need to be computer literate with Word and Excel, and be comfortable working with multiple applications, including Outlook and SharePoint.
As you will be couriering samples to the Scientific Centre Saltford, a full clean manual driving licence is essential, and you would need to be located within reasonable driving distance to the site.

- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
