Do you have experience working on water supply networks? Are you a good team player? Have you got knowledge of DWI requirements and regulations? If so, we have a great opportunity for you to join us as a Water Quality Technical Coordinator!

What you'll do

The Water Quality Technical Coordinator will be a key member of the Supply Water Quality team, taking the lead in planning water quality root cause investigations and related customer contact rates while having the ability to present the information in a format suitable for inclusion in company documents and reports.

The role influences the Water Quality policy for the business throughout the current AMP. You will work closely with the Field Technicians and other key stakeholders, across Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire to gather information to confirm ‘hot spots' of discolouration and provide information to be included as supporting evidence and information for future investment in the water supply network.

You will promote best practices for the management and improvement of water quality across the water supply network. A major part of this role will be planning non-intrusive work on critical mains whilst maintaining the security of supply which is paramount.

You will also have to show care to minimise distribution for our customers and the wider supply network, while also communicating the programme of work to all relevant departments.

What you'll need

You need to be a strong and motivated team player who is proactive, practical and a great problem solver. You will be able to make decisions whilst also being able to provide flexible cover within the team.

To be successful, you will be a confident communicator with strong customer and liaison skills. You will also be able to develop and influence new ways of working, working both independently and as part of a team and managing your own workload, ensuring it is completed to set timescales.

We are looking for someone with the following knowledge and understanding of:

  • water supply networks and potential problems (especially water quality related)
  • knowledge of hydraulics (knowledge of water supply modelling is an advantage but, training can be provided)
  • data analysis
  • DMA zoning
  • water quality loggers and the ability to integrate findings
  • DWI requirements and the regulation of the water industry (notably Section 28 Water Quality)
  • the Lone Worker system and health and safety policies.

In addition, you will have:

  • a full clean driving licence
  • a hygiene card
  • good IT skills
  • effective communication
  • a can-do approach to work
  • the ability to work in accordance with our health and safety policies and safe systems of work.

What you'll receive

  • A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary, subject to conditions.
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • An interactive health and wellbeing platform.
