About the team

We have a dedicated Project Management (PM) team that provides management services for wide-ranging projects. These projects are multidisciplinary, including design, civil engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering, commissioning, commercial and environmental.

They include working on new and modifying existing sewers, water pipelines, water recycling centres and water treatment centres. Projects can range from £20,000 to £120m in value.

The PM team is responsible for leading projects from concept design through to asset handover to our Operations team. The role interacts with multiple internal and external stakeholders to drive projects to a successful conclusion, with the PM team responsible for safety, quality, time and cost.

What you'll do

This apprenticeship enables you to develop PM skills and competencies and, on successful completion, facilitates future opportunities for individuals to help us deliver £3.5bn worth of projects over the next six years.

Apprentices may become student members of the Association for Project Management (APM) as the first step of professional membership. Apprentices will be eligible for progression to associate membership upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

As an Assistant Project Manager Apprentice, you will obtain essential skills, knowledge and experiences in the following areas:

  • delivering projects to achieve the required outputs concerning safety, the environment, time, quality and cost
  • project delivery processes
  • project scope management
  • business case and benefits management
  • project planning process
  • company legal and contractual obligations
  • corporate governance processes
  • budgetary constraints and control
  • project communication
  • contract negotiations

Where you'll work

This role is regional, so you will be expected to work anywhere within our region, from Bath and Avonmouth to Poole and Yeovil.

What you'll need

You will need one of the following:

  • three A Levels at grade C or above, preferably in related subjects, such as maths, science and IT
  • a T Level at grade C or above
  • a BTEC Extended Diploma at MMM, or equivalent, in addition to a Level 2 in English and maths at grade 4/C or above.

  • Project Manager Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship.

  • BSc (hons) Project Manager Degree.

Training provision

  • Training will be delivered by the University Centre Weston.
  • One day per week at university.
