About the Engineering and Sustainable Delivery team

As a construction engineering technician apprentice you will train to become part of the engineering and sustainable delivery team, working on new construction projects.

Our Engineering and Sustainable Delivery team is responsible for the delivery of the asset management programme, including updating existing and constructing new water and sewage treatment and pipeline projects.

To maintain and improve our services we are continuously updating existing treatment works, upgrading and laying new pipe networks and constructing new reservoirs.

Previous technician apprentices have worked in our small schemes team, utilities rehabilitation, planning and civil engineering.

By completing this higher-level apprenticeship in civil engineering and construction you will gain an HNC in construction engineering as well as achieving Eng Tech status with the Institute of Civil Engineers.

You will be involved in our construction projects and, with support, learn how to run sites including planning, construction and handing over the finished project.

If you have good mathematical skills and a strong desire to learn all about engineering and sustainable delivery, this multi-skilled role will suit you.

What will you be doing?

As a construction engineering technician apprentice you will train to become part of the Engineering and Sustainable Delivery team, working on new construction projects.

You will be involved in our construction projects and, with support, learn how to run sites from planning, to construction, to handing over the finished project.

You will:

  • carry out site labouring and later construction site supervision and project management
  • understand the importance of safety in all aspects of projects
  • contribute to civil, electrical and mechanical designs for projects
  • plan to reduce environmental impacts and managing quality systems
  • be given early responsibility for construction projects
  • study contract and commercial processes.

Where will you work?

As the role is regional you will be expected to work anywhere within the Wessex Water region from Bristol to Bournemouth and Salisbury to Taunton.
