Digital Engineer Apprentice
Join our team of modellers and software users and play a key role in our design projects.
About the team
This apprenticeship will help you to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours to work in a high-quality construction environment.
You will work alongside our in-house Design and Construction teams, playing a key role in ensuring that the project designs are running to client requirements and compliant with regulations.
You will use digital tools and other software to contribute to our goal of creating a BIM centre of excellence.
This role also involves assisting in the delivery of the design documentation at both the outline and detail design stages.
You will develop technical experience within a design and construction role and learn expertise in modern Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes.
BIM software platforms, PAS 1192 and ISO 19650 concepts are all elements of the job that you will become familiar with.
By the end of your apprenticeship, you will be working on four to five projects at any one time.
What you'll be doing
You will:
- produce detailed design 3D Models, construction drawings and specifications, as built drawings/plans
- understand and work to the project requirements within the Common Data Environment (CDE)
- produce intelligent 3D models and add more value to the client by extracting information directly from the model, 2D drawings, pipe schedules, setting out, etc
- analyse and manipulate models and drawings received from third parties
- analyse and manipulate base maps and Graphical Information System (GIS) data
- produce as-built records, liaising with the construction team to clarify details as necessary
- upload required information to the CDE at relevant stages of design.

Where you'll work
This role is based at our Operations Centre in Bath with opportunities to visit sites to gain a thorough knowledge of water treatment and supply.
What you'll need
- GCSEs at grade A-C/4-9 in English and maths.
- Two A-levels or a Higher National Certificate (HNC).
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to build working relationships quickly at all levels.
- Good computer literacy.

- Three and a half years plus end point assessment.

- Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Level 6 Apprenticeship.
- BSc (Hons) in Digital and Technology Solutions.
Training provision
- Training will be delivered by Weston College.
